Occurred the most disproportionately in hexagons with ponderosa pine
forest and April precipitation (hex. max.) of 41-360 mm and June
precipitation (hex. min.) of 5-21 mm. Somewhat less likely where no
ponderosa pine forest and topography is varied. The logistic regression
analysis showed positive or negative association with ponderosa pine
forest, number of land cover types, elevation (hex. avg.), topographic
variation, July minimum temperature (hex. min.), and-to a lesser
degree-canyon grassland and shrubland, subalpine grassland, and the
extent of public land.
